Bringing The Mark of Aion to Life

There’s something strange about writing a book for middle grade readers. At first, it feels impossible. The story lives only in your head—half scenes, scattered notes, random sparks of dialogue that show up while driving, walking through a bookstore, or lying awake at night at 2 a.m.
And then, slowly, it becomes real.
That’s the part nobody really prepares you for.
Over the last several years, The Mark of Aion grew from a simple idea into a full adventure filled with ancient mysteries, lost history, dangerous secrets, and time travel. What started as “Wouldn’t it be cool if…” eventually became Ezra Whetstone’s story—a story about courage, friendship, discovery, and the idea that history isn’t just something we study… it’s something we live.
As a lifelong lover of adventure stories, I wanted to create the kind of book I would have obsessed over at thirteen years old. The kind of story that makes you stay up way too late saying, “Just one more chapter.”
Middle grade readers are at such an incredible age. They’re curious about the world. They want mystery. They want danger and humor and wonder. They want stories that treat them like explorers standing at the edge of something bigger than themselves. Writing for that audience has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
But bringing a story to life takes more than writing.
It’s rewriting chapters that don’t work.
It’s cutting scenes you love.
It’s redesigning covers.
It’s staring at formatting problems at midnight.
It’s learning publishing, marketing, social media, and a hundred things you never expected to learn.
And somehow, after all of that, the dream begins turning into something tangible.
A real book.
Seeing the title on some concept cover art made everything suddenly feel real in a completely different way.

Now, after all the planning, revising, and worldbuilding, I’m incredibly excited to officially announce that The Mark of Aion debuts June 1.
Preorders will be opening soon, and I honestly can’t wait to finally share this adventure with readers.
If you enjoy stories filled with ancient mysteries, hidden history, legendary places, time travel, and unforgettable adventures, I think you’re going to love what Ezra’s journey has in store.
This is only the beginning.
History is waiting.
